Annual Father's Day Celebration
The stage was set June 19, 2010 at Hamilton Manor, Hamilton, NJ as UIH Family Partners, NJM Insurance group and the Trenton Housing Authority honored 19 men for there outstanding contributions as Fathers in the Mercer County area. The 5th Annual Platinum Dads awards celebration: Honoring Exemplary Fathers included our very own, brother Jean Lamothe from Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc, the Lambda Lambda Sigma Chapter. As the current Director of Education for the Eastern Region as well as the National Chairman of Standards and Awards, brother Lamothe fit the criteria devised by the committee as being someone who is recognized by organizations, family and friends as an exemplary father figure and role model.
“Jet” as he is known in SIGMA circles has served Phi Beta Sigma with distinction, excellence, honor and commitment for 22yrs. Our motto “Culture for Service, Service for Humanity” is what drives Brother Lamothe daily to be a Great man, a Great father and a Great man of SIGMA.
The nominating criteria indicated that:
- You must be a Mercer County resident,
- You must be an active community leader,
- Must exhibit the qualities of responsible fatherhood(being a good listener, loving, motivator/encourager, shares appropriate activities with children, protects child’s welfare, trustworthy and values education)
In addition to receiving UIH’s prestigious award/plaque, “Jet” also received a certificate from the NJ Legislative District for his outstanding contribution.
Since 2006, UIH has been the beneficiary recipient of LLS annual SIGMA suit drive. Donations include 233 suits, 115 blazers, 107 slacks and 323 ties.
